Camouflage your power cable with Knit Komputer Kord Kozy

You know, technology and gadgets don't have to be so cold and impersonal. Even good design usually involves a lot of plastic and curves and smooth surfaces; where's the warmth? The softness? When was the last time you felt like you could cuddle up with a gadget?

That's why I like this unfortunately-named Knit Komputer Kord Kozy. It takes the power cord to a laptop and makes it something squeezable, something you don't need to hide away under a desk. Sure, it'll collect dust like nobody's business, but isn't that worth it for a little softness?

Acer Aspire G7700-UQ9550A: Gaming Predator

What comes to mind when you hear the word predator? Perhaps spacefaring aliens that hunt for fun? That's clearly what Acer wanted you to think when it designed the Acer Aspire G7700-UQ9550A, aka "Predator" ($2,199 list). The bright orange gaming PC looks straight out of the science-fiction film franchise—I wouldn't have been surprised if I had found a "Weyland-Yutani" logo somewhere on the chassis. This is a flashy gaming system with enough power to back up all that flash.

Gateway FX6800-01E: Gamer Desktop On A Budget

The Gateway FX6800-01e ($1,249.99 list) is clearly going after the gamer on a budget. It's a bit more expensive than sub-$800 gaming boxes like the , but the FX6800-01e can play today's games a whole lot better. There are a few tremendous innovations in the FX6800-01e, and its performance is stellar for its price. A couple of niggling details keep it from besting the $2,000 gaming PCs, but if you're someone who upgrades by buying a whole new system every few years, the FX6800-01e will rock your world.

Alienware M17 Gaming Notebook - Incite Envy

Alienware gaming laptops are built to incite envy. Their designs, which resemble a coat of armor with gill-like ridges, topped off by the signature alien head logo, are sleek and otherworldly. Traditionally, these rigs are limited to those with deep pockets, with don't-even-ask price tags. The new Alienware M17 gaming rig takes a slightly different, more affordable approach. At $2,060 (direct), this 17-inch behemoth can be heavy at times, but its sleek Stealth Black case and ATI CrossFireX dual-GPU configuration are well worth the price.

ThinkPad W700 Monstrous NoteBook - Fashon Fusion

The ThinkPad W700 is monstrous, and its look may not strike a chord with fashion photographers, but some unheard-of built-in features will instantly make style moot. The Pantone color sensor, for instance, eliminates the need to carry a separate color calibration device; a Wacom digitizer that's traditionally part of the screen is cleverly positioned on the palm rest; and an option for a 10-inch secondary display that slides out from the back of the primary one is an industry first. These features, along with the built-in Intel quad-core technology, earn the W700 an Editors' Choice in the workstation category.

Samsung NC10-14GB - Competitive Notebook

Samsung needed a strategy that would jump-start its laptop presence. A netbook was the obvious choice, as this category is taking the market by storm. The Samsung NC10-14GB ($480 street) is a lot like every other netbook, but it has a few small advantages. It comes with a six-cell battery instead of a puny three-cell, and the keyboard is a tiny bit (1 percent) bigger than those of the MSI Wind and the HP Mini 1000. Ultimately, though, it loses out on price: The MSI Wind is a lower-priced package for now (by about $50, which in the netbook category is significant).
